How the 2026 Social Security Payment Schedule Works
The 2026 schedule is easiest to read in four groups: three birthday Wednesday groups, plus SSI and 3rd-of-month exceptions.
Paid on the Third Wednesday
This group receives the next Wednesday payment. For auxiliary benefits, use the worker's birthday tied to the record.
Paid on the Fourth Wednesday
This is the final regular Wednesday payment group for each month in the 2026 calendar.
Use the 1st or 3rd Rule
SSI is usually paid on the 1st. Social Security before May 1997 or combined SSI + Social Security cases usually use the 3rd for Social Security.

These are the 2026 SSI dates most likely to confuse users because the deposit lands in the prior calendar month.
Paid December 31, 2025
January 1 is a federal holiday, so January SSI is paid before 2026 starts.
Paid January 30 and February 27
February 1 and March 1 fall on Sundays, moving SSI to the prior business day.
Paid July 31 and October 30
August 1 is a Saturday and November 1 is a Sunday, so those SSI payments arrive early.
